Personal Job Coach vs Jobscan: Which Is Right for Your Job Search?

Jobscan started as an ATS auditor, a tool that scores your CV against a job description and hands you a keyword report to act on yourself. Through 2026 it has added an AI rewrite tool, a cover letter generator, and an Auto Apply feature, so that description no longer covers the whole product. Here is what each tool actually does today.

What Jobscan does now

The free tier is still close to what it always was: five scans a month, a percentage match score against a job description, and a list of missing keywords. Premium, at $49.95 a month (around €46), adds AI Optimize, an in-line editor (also referred to as Power Edit in the product) that rewrites bullets and recalculates your match score as you go, plus a cover letter generator and LinkedIn optimisation. Since June 2026 it also offers Auto Apply: it matches your CV against open roles across Lever, Workable, and other applicant tracking systems, then submits applications with a human review step before each one goes out. Auto Apply runs on separate credits, from $1.40 to $1.70 each, on top of the Premium subscription.

Where the two now overlap

Jobscan used to be the tool that diagnosed what was wrong and left you to fix it. That's not really true anymore: AI Optimize and the cover letter generator mean it produces rewritten content itself now, not just a keyword list. The free scan is still a reasonable way to check a CV before committing to either tool.

What Personal Job Coach still covers that Jobscan doesn't

Company research, contact research, and interview practice sit outside Jobscan at every tier. Personal Job Coach generates a company briefing with recent news and strategic context, researches named contacts at the company, and runs a mock interview built from the job description and that research, all from the same job record as the tailored CV and cover letter. Jobscan has no equivalent to Career Strategy either, the upstream step that builds your base CV and target roles before a specific job posting exists.

The comparison runs the other way too. Jobscan's Auto Apply submits applications across job boards on your behalf, and Personal Job Coach does not do this at all: it builds the strongest possible application for a role you choose, then leaves the sending to you. If volume matters more than depth, that is a genuine advantage for Jobscan.

Jobscan Premium is $49.95 a month (around €46) and includes AI Optimize, the cover letter generator, LinkedIn optimisation, and two Auto Apply credits; further credits are billed separately. Personal Job Coach is €19.99 a month for every tool, with no credits and no separate tiers.

Which one to use

Use Jobscan if you want to apply to a high volume of roles with minimal manual work, or if an in-line AI editor fits how you like to revise a CV. Use Personal Job Coach if you would rather target fewer roles deliberately, with a company briefing, contact research, and interview prep built alongside the tailored CV and cover letter for each one.
